MNN’s 4 Top Executives Earn Over 600k a year…

This 990 Tax Return submitted by Manhattan Neighborhood Network in 2012 to the IRS indicates that 4 of their top executive staff make well over a half a million dollars.  Where has the money for the $250k a year MNN community media grant program has gone? Since MNN opened it’s doors nearly 20 years ago, the grant program was a hallmark of the access center, training hundreds of members of non-profit organizations and provided them with equipment and training to produce their own programs. The executive director ended the successful and community media building program in 2009.

Look at the salaries below. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out where the money went.  MNN went from 1-2 executive staff to now 5. 4 earning more than 100k and the executive director, Dan Coughlin earning almost 250k with benefits.  Bare in mind this is from their 990 Tax Return from 2012.  Mr. Coughlin’s salary is probably way higher than this now.

These salaries seem excessive for a community media non-profit even accounting for standard of living in NYC, don’t you think?
